#4 What is the difference between opening size & overall size?

The first thing you have to know is that products are divided into four main categories: Roller doorsSectional doorsAluminium security and Steel security doors.

Aluminium products

Roller doors and aluminium security shutters are priced based on overall width and height (including plates and guides).

Steel products

Steel security shutters are priced on overall width and height (including plates and guides).

Sectional products

Sectional doors are priced on opening width and height (excluding plates and guides). They require a minimum of 80mm of space on each side for the guides and a minimum of 80mm of headroom space for manual and 120mm of headroom space for automatic sectional doors.

Overall height

Calculated by adding the guide height to the plate size. On face fix installations, please make allowance for the bottom rail projection within the guide channels and the bottom “guide” channel as necessary.

Overall width

Calculated by identifying the appropriate guide channels and ensuring their width is added to the required opening width in the case of face fix installations.

#8 How to maintain your door?

You get the most out of your door if you maintain it as a customer. In case of any uncertainty regarding the maintenance of our products, contact us.

Maintenance of garage doors and roller shutter doors includes the following:

  • Apply oil products to all pivot points
  • Check screws and clamped connections for tightness
  • Keep the running tracks clean (do not apply grease to the running tracks)
  • Springs should be replaced after approximately 15 000 operation
  • Do not apply oil products to the locks
  • Check all parts and replace any worn components when necessary

The above-mentioned maintenance should be conducted immediately after the door is fitted and after every 5,000 operations of the door (open/close) and/or at least once a year.

#9 How can I look after my product?

When cleaning garage doors and roller shutter doors, keep the following in mind:

  • The door and frame (if present) should be washed with a mild soap-based solution regularly to prevent residue buildup (salt, dirt, and other corrosive substances)
  • If the product is installed alongside a salt-based body of water, the above-mentioned cleaning process should be conducted at least every two months
  • Corrosive substances such as acid, alkaline, salt, etc. should be cleaned off the product on a regular basis. Failure to do so will result in deterioration of the finish, and thus will not be covered under SBi Group’s warranty.
  • If the door requires repainting – contact SBi Group. If the customer paints the product themselves, the warranty is void.

#10 Can I repair my garage door by myself?

No, you should not repair your garage door by yourself! We need to be crystal clear in this case. Any problems with a door purchased from an official SBi Group distributor should be addressed to the distributor who installed it. You must do this if you wish to be eligible for the warranty. It is possible that the warranty will be voided if the distributor states that the door was touched by someone else.

#11 Are SBi products resistant to extreme conditions like snow or cold?

Yes, our products are resistant to extreme conditions to some degree. For example, the curtain can operate in all kinds of temperature anomalies. On the other hand, a safe operating temperature range for the springs and the motor is between -20°C to +60°C.
